Anthony Green is one of the country's foremost figurative painters, best known for his wonderfully exuberant use of shape and colour. His paintings are beautifully executed, often irregularly shaped and always full of humanity and humour. He decided early in his career to paint what is most important to him, his wife and family, and he chronicles the events in their lives together, both happy and sad, in his works. He has been a member of the Royal Academy since 1967 where his paintings are always favourites at their Summer Exhibition.
