Friends of Rye Art Gallery Events
Illustrated talks on art history, artists, craftspeople and their work, are usually held monthly at the Stormont Studio, at 7.30 pm usually on a Tuesday evening. Entrance : £2.50 (members), £3.50 (non-members, who are welcome) inclusive of wine/beverages.
Resale show of artworks from the Phoebe Merricks Collection
From 18 February to 25 March in the Upper Stormont Studio. The late Phoebe Merricks was a leading supporter of the Trust in the 1980s and 1990s. She was both Chair of Friends and a Trustee. She was an avid collector of art by local artists, some of which is now for sale in the Upper Stormont Studio.
Art Appreciation by Trustee Andrew Ashton
The Friends organise two talks in early 2012, on Tues 6th March and Tues 3rd April at 2pm by Trustee and Friend Andrew Ashton. The subject of both talks to be confirmed but both will draw on images in the Permanent Collection.
Young Peoples' Workshops
Rye Art Gallery runs workshops for young people again during half term. On 26 October in two sessions ( 1000 to 1200 for 5 to 8 years and 1330 to 1530 for 8 plus years) in the Stormont Studio, Rye Art Gallery. GBP 10 per session (discount for siblings) to make magic lanterns.

An introduction to Art History by Art Historian Nicholas Shaddick. Nicholas will lead a modular course on Wednesday evenings at 7pm in the Stormont Studio, Rye Art Gallery, with Unit One starting on 21 September until 26 October 2011. Other modules will follow. The course explores the history of western art.
